Are You Workplace Compliant?

When was the last time you checked your workplace or vehicle first aid kit?
Under Australian law, every workplace — including vehicles used for work — must have an appropriate first aid kit accessible at all times. Compliance isn’t optional; it’s a legal duty under the Work Health and Safety (WHS) Act 2011 and the Model WHS Regulations (Part 3.2 – Division 3, Regulation 42–44).

What the Law Says

The WHS Act requires employers and business owners (PCBUs) to provide:

  • First aid equipment that suits the hazards and risks in the workplace.

  • Access to that equipment for all workers at all times.

  • Trained first aiders and clear signage showing where kits are located.

This also applies to work vehicles, mobile workplaces, and remote sites — meaning every company ute, truck, or service vehicle must carry a compliant first aid kit.

Failure to comply can result in penalties and prosecution if an injury occurs and adequate first aid equipment wasn’t available.

How Often Should Kits Be Checked?

First aid kits should be:

  • Inspected every 3 months to ensure all contents are stocked and within expiry.

  • Restocked immediately after any use.

  • Reviewed annually to confirm the kit still matches the risks in your workplace or vehicle.

Lovell Rigs First Aid Supplies provides online access to complete kits, restock modules, and replacement items, making it simple for individuals and organisations across Australia to stay compliant — without the need for onsite servicing or storage.

All orders include a flat $25 delivery fee Australia-wide, no matter how big or small your purchase.
